trojan horse PSW.Agent.ZMR
Hello
I am using windows XP, and recently my laptop started running really slowly and when i tried to open internet explorer, iexplore.exe would appear on task manager but the internet browser itself would not load up.
I done a virus scan in safe mode with AVG8, and then switched back to normal mode & was able to load a website (but it took ages and many attempts of crashing) so we could download firefox (IE was still really slow, that's why I downloaded firefox as it did seem to load quicker......) This was a couple of days ago, and my laptop is still running slowly (takes almost a minute for firefox to come up when I click on it)
Today I done a routine virus scan, and it found the following threats:
File - C:\windows\system32\lspuhr.dll
Infection - trojan horse PSW.Agent.ZMR
Process name - C:\program files\mozilla firefox.exe
I downloaded firefox from their official website, and wasn't sure whether to just delete the infected files, but wasn't sure whether it would be safe to or not.
ALSO: Every time I open firefox or go to another web page, AVG8 says it's found another threat... being the same infection.
The same also opens when I try and run iexplore.exe unsuccessfully.
I was also wondering would this infection have resulted in the laptop *suddenly* running slowly as well (mainly when it comes to opening internet browsers)?
I am not very technically-minded so any (idiot-proof!) help would be greatly appreciated.
